Choose a state
Oregon and Washington use each state's full report card files: test results through high school, attendance, graduation, spending and more. Other states use national data collections: elementary and middle school test results, poverty, enrollment and federal civil rights measures.
Compare within a state
Each state writes its own tests and sets its own bar for "proficient," so a 45% in one state isn't a 45% in another. Everything here compares schools with others in the same state.
Adjusted for poverty
Test scores mostly track family income. Each state page can rank schools by how far above or below schools serving similarly poor students they score, which is closer to what a school adds.
